Squirrel
Most budgeting tools tell you what you spent after you have spent it. Squirrel works earlier than that — it puts a deliberate pause between the impulse and the purchase, then keeps an honest daily record of what happened either way.
What it does
A browser extension recognizes checkout and product pages on the sites you have chosen to block, and interrupts them with a short appeal before the purchase completes. You decide how hard it is to wave away.
Alongside it, the mobile app keeps a daily journal, tracks savings goals, and logs what you spent or saved. Everything syncs through one account, so a change made on your phone applies in the browser too.
Squirrel has no bank connection and never asks for banking credentials. Every figure in it is one you entered yourself.
